Shortly after announcing that Instagram photos no longer need to be square, the company announced it has over 400 million users.
Instagram has been on the rise:
September 2015 – 400 Million Users
December 2014 – 300 Million Users
March 2014 – 200 Million Users
More people are actively using hashtags; and not to mention: who doesn’t like seeing a beautiful landscape photo?
When the site in December was at 300 million users, it was a force to be reckoned with. The company has also noted that 75 percent of it’s users are outside of the USA. But why is this?
People enjoy reading over text and images. Nevertheless, it is the interpretation that is vastly different. It is well known that Instagram is known for its photography and Twitter for its prose.
According to the company Constant Contact, there is evidence that supports the claim that more people will look at an image rather then text while scrolling on their news feed. This could explain the rise in users as well as the international dominance for this company.
The amount of Instagram followers will keep rising so be prepared for more “likes.”
So step up your hashtags! #impopular
