Former Missouri Tigers star and St. Louis Ram Michael Sam is currently hoping that he will receive a shot on an NFL roster. After a brief, unsuccessful stint in the Canadian Football League, Sam is unemployed and looking towards his next step.
Considering he was unable to stick on an NFL roster because of a lack of athleticism and burst, it seems like a longshot that Sam would resurface in the league.
However, he believes there is one thing holding him back: his sexual orientation.
During a recent interview on The Dan Patrick Show, Sam said that he still believes he would be in the NFL if he did not come out as a homosexual prior to the NFL Draft.
“I’m not going to say … but it probably would have been better for me if I didn’t come out,” he said. “I would be on a roster. But, as I said, I have no regrets.”
The comments came around the 7:15 mark.
