Popovich preps for NBA season by trolling a reporter

The relationship between a pro-sports coach and members of the media can be a tricky one. Sometimes reporters ask sub-par questions. Other times a coach makes it difficult to answer press conference questions because he/she is a mean-spirited individual.

Every once in a while a coach will throw caution to the wind and have a little fun with a reporter. Such was the case during NBA media day when Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich seriously trolled Jared Greenberg of NBA TV–while the cameras were rolling.

After a couple awkward questions, Pop broke into a chuckle before admitting that he was being a difficult interviewee on purpose to “prepare for the season,” and told the man behind the mic that he was ready to start from the beginning and answer the interview questions for real.

Funny enough, Greenberg was so taken aback by Popovich’s act that he couldn’t believe that he was the subject of a troll job and not just getting a terrible interview.
