The 2015 college football season is in full force and some Heisman candidates are starting to pull away from the rest of the pack. One man who is leading the frontrunners is LSU running back Leonard Fournette.
Last week, Fournette led the ESPN Experts’ Heisman poll and he is once again at the top of the leaderboard. Fournette is one of four running backs in the top five of the poll with Georgia’s Nick Chubb, Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott, and UCLA’s Paul Perkins, who is tied with Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett.
Here is the full list from ESPN:
LSU running back Leonard Fournette – 49 points
Georgia running back Nick Chubb – 35 points
TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin – 28 points
Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott – 12 points
Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett – 5 points
UCLA running back Paul Perkins – 5 points
USC quarterback Cody Kessler – 4 points
Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly – 3 points
Baylor quarterback Seth Russell – 3 points
Cal quarterback Jared Goff – 2 points
Stanford quarterback Kevin Hogan – 2 points
TCU wide receiver Josh Doctson – 1 point
UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen – 1 point
Could Fournette become just the third running back to win the award since 2000 and the first since Mark Ingram in 2009? All signs certainly look that way.
