Of all of the great college football running backs there have been, former Georgia running back Herschel Walker is certainly in the top five. He is known as one of the most bruising backs in all of college football history and he will always be remembered as a legend.
We may have the next great college running back and Walker believes that he could be remembered for more than just winning a Heisman Trophy.
Walker spoke to TMZ and said that he believes LSU running back Leonard Fournette may be a better running back than he was.
“He’s better than I was,” Walker says … noting that Fournette is the clear frontrunner for the Heisman.
Herschel says he’s extremely impressed with Fournette’s athleticism AND his toughness — “He’s like a fullback because he can take punishment and keep on going.”
Walker also talked about the rumors that Fournette could sit out his junior year to avoid injury leading up to the 2017 NFL Draft.
“It’s a bad idea to talk about leaving early, just wait and your time will come.”
Those are some pretty big words from a legend like Walker. Fournette is certainly on the right track to be remembered as a legend, but I know a lot of people who would probably disagree with Walker, mostly Bulldog fans.
