2016 Bednarik Award watch list headlined by Myles Garrett, Kendall Beckwith

In a sign that the return of college football is just around the corner, the Maxwell Football Club announced its watch lists for the 2016 Maxwell Award and Chuck Bednarik Award on Tuesday.

Over the next week and a half, the remainder of preseason watch lists will be unveiled.

But first, we go to the Bednarik Award which is awarded to the College Defensive Player of the Year. The award has been handed out every year since 1995, with Tyler Matakevich of Temple taking home last year’s honor.

This year’s watch list is headlined by two returning finalists: Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett and Kendall Beckwith of LSU.

The Alabama Crimson Tide’s star-studded defense leads the way with four members named to the watch list — Jonathan Allen, Reuben Foster, Eddie Jackson and Tim Williams — while six other schools are represented by three players a piece;  Clemson. Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, TCU and Texas A&M.

Who will bring home this year’s award?
