Winter Storm Goliath caused havoc throughout Texas this past week, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders also felt the wrath of the storm. According to the university, the roof of the Athletic Training Center deflated because of the mass amounts of snow.
The facility — which had its roof replaced earlier in 2015 — is being evaluated by university officials to determine the exact amount of damage.
“Our foremost concern is the safety of our student athletes and staff who utilize the facility,” Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said in a statement. “We will conduct a structural study to explore the extent of the damage and then decide on the feasibility of repairing it.”
With the ATC set to be replaced this spring thanks to the new indoor facility, the Sports Performance Center, it will be interesting to see whether Texas Tech attempts to salvage the center.
If not, they will be forced to reschedule some meets until the new facility is complete.
