Christian Hackenberg thanks everyone but his coach before going pro

On Saturday, Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Christian Hackenberg declared for the 2016 NFL Draft.

While it wasn’t a surprise that the junior signal-caller announced his intentions to turn pro, it was eye-opening to take a closer look at his exact words while making the decision known to the media.

Hackenberg thanked everyone who has been a part of his collegiate career other than his current head coach, James Franklin.

Hackenberg thanked his former coach, Bill O’Brien, and former offensive coordinator, but his current coaching staff was nowhere to be found on the list of those receiving thanks. That means even the video producer received thanks over the current head coach.

Check out Hackenberg’s words below:

That doesn’t say too much about the relationship Hackenberg and Franklin had.

Perhaps we can see why the quarterback never developed after O’Brien left despite having NFL talent.
