Dwayne Bowe has a ridiculous per-catch bonus clause

Dwayne Bowe inked a two-year, $12.5 million contract this past offseason with the Cleveland Browns, with $9 million guaranteed.

With star receiver Josh Gordon set to miss the year, Bowe was supposed to help fill the void left by Gordon’s absence. Instead he ended up being an extremely expensive bit player.

Coach Mike Pettine really did not care much for Bowe, and that much was displayed by him pretty much refusing to play him. Bowe was again a healthy scratch for Week 17 against the Steelers.

In all, Bowe played in seven games, catching five passes for 53 yards and zero touchdowns.

Add all that up and Bowe took home $1.29 million per game, $1.8 million per catch and more than $169,000 per receiving yard.

If there was ever a free agency bust, this is the best example.
