The Denver Broncos went with Peyton Manning at quarterback in the third quarter of today’s game vs. the San Diego Chargers after Brock Osweiler committed three turnovers.
Manning would go on to complete two passes for 20 yards on his opening drive, which was capped with running back C. J. Anderson’s one-yard touchdown run. On the day, Manning has completed 3 of 5 passes for just 36 yards.
Coach Gary Kubiak clearly wants to play it conservative with the playoffs on the horizon and not risk injury, but it just goes to show that Manning’s name and accomplishments still carry a lot of weight even if he was playing terribly prior to his injury.
