Steelers clinch playoff berth with win over Browns, Jets’ loss to Bills

The AFC playoff picture was pretty much settled coming into Week 17 of the NFL season, but the Pittsburgh Steelers knew they needed a little help to get into the playoffs once again. They had to defeat the Cleveland Browns and hope the New York Jets would fall to the Buffalo Bills.

The Steelers took care of business over the Browns as they won the game 28-12. The Bills came through for Pittsburgh as they pulled off the 22-17 upset over the Jets.

Both teams finished 10-6 on the year, but the Steelers had a better record in the conference, which gave them the sixth seed in the AFC. This is their second straight playoff appearance and their eighth in the last 12 seasons.

On the day, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had a good day, throwing for 349 yards and three touchdowns. Antonio Brown caught 13 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown.

The playoffs start next weekend and the Steelers will likely take on AFC South champions, the Houston Texans, in the Wildcard round.
