At the end of this month, the film “Greater” will be released in theaters. The film tells the story of former Arkansas offensive lineman Brandon Burlsworth, who made the team as a walk-on and after seeing the trailer, all I can say is brace yourself.

Pretty breathtaking, right? Burlsworth eventually became an All-American and went on to be drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft, but tragically died in a car accident just days afterward. Starting in 2010, in his honor, the Burlsworth Trophy has been given out annually to the best FBS Division I player who began playing college football as a walk-on. Winners of the award include former Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin, former East Carolina receiver Justin Hardy and, most recently, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, who walked on at both Texas Tech and Oklahoma.
Needless to say, if you call yourself a college football fan, this movie should interest you quite a bit!
