Nintendo NX to be revealed in spring

It’s no secret that the Wii U hasn’t been very successful for Nintendo.

The follow up to the super popular Wii has sold just 12.4 million units since its 2012 release. It’s a far cry from the 101 million that the Wii sold. But Nintendo is hoping all of that changes with the release of its new console, the Nintendo NX.

Now, that isn’t the guaranteed name of the system, but that is what it has been called throughout development. And it looks like fans will get their first look at the console in the very near future.

According to Japanese firm Nomura Securities, the console is expected to be given a minor reveal sometime between March and May. A full-fledged reveal is expected at E3 2016 in June.

After this leak, Nintendo’s stock dropped 5% because of the revelation that the NX console is expected to not only impact the Wii U, but the highly-popular 3DS as well.

The NX is expected to still not be released until 2017, and has been discussed as being a hybrid console. Nintendo recently filed a patent of a peripheral that could be the controller for the new system.
