Oregon State hires Kevin Clune as DC

Oregon State has hired former Utah State defensive coordinator Kevin Clune to fill the same position, according to Gina Mizell of OregonLive.

Clune replaces Kalani Sitake, who late last year was named the successor to Bronco Mendenhall at BYU. The Beavers were near the bottom of the barrel in total defense in 2015, finishing 2-10 on the year, while Clune guided the Aggies to ranking 17th in total defense. Needless to say, he’ll be expected to bring immediate results to the team.

Helping Clune is his relationship with head coach Gary Andersen, as the two worked together previously at Utah, Utah State and Southern Utah.

Clune has a tall task ahead of him in fixing the Beavers’ D but given how terribly the team finished in 2015, there’s nowhere to go but up.
