Georgia Southern announces full coaching staff under Tyson Summers

The Georgia Southern Eagles will essentially be starting over for the 2016 season, after former head coach Willie Fritz left for Tulane. Colorado State defensive coordinator Tyson Summers was announced as the new head coach just a few weeks ago and the Eagles have now announced their full coaching staff for the 2016 season.

The school announced their coaching staff on Wednesday and it seems to host some pretty familiar names to Eagle fans. You can see the full list below, which is in alphabetical order.

Pat Bastien, Lorenzo “Zo” Costantini, David Dean, Chris Foster, Rance Gillespie, Jimmy Lindsey, Chad Lunsford, Allen Mogridge and Jeremy Rowell. Summers also announced the hiring of Travis Taylor, Steve Dennis and Dr. Tredell Dorsey to his staff, as well.

Dean, former head coach at Valdosta State, and Gillespie will serve as co-offensive coordinators. Costantini will take over as the team’s defensive coordinator.

Lunsford returns for his eighth season with the Eagles as he will be the team’s recruiting coordinator as well as the tight ends and special teams coach.

“My family and I are extremely excited about remaining at Georgia Southern,” Lunsford said. “We are very thankful to Coach Summers for the opportunity and look forward to continuing to be a part of the tradition and history of this special place. As a coach, I am fired up about my new role as special teams coordinator for the Georgia Southern Eagles. This is a great opportunity for me to move into such an important position and I am looking forward to continuing the success of Georgia Southern Football.”

The Eagles finished off a successful 2015 season as they went 9-4 and won the GoDaddy Bowl, their first in team history.
