Saints QB coach Mike Neu expected to be named HC at Ball State

New Orleans Saints quarterbacks coach Mike Neu is expected to be named the next head coach at Ball State, according to Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports.

Neu, 45, has spent the last two seasons with the Saints and served in the same position with Tulane in 2013. He has been the head coach for two Arena League teams in the Augusta Stallions and the New Orleans Voodoo.

Neu is also a former Ball State quarterback and was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Year in 1993. He replaces Pete Lembo, who recently stepped down to take a job on D.J. Durkin’s staff at Maryland.

And Neu has a tall order ahead of him, as the Cardinals went 3-9 (2-6 MAC) in 2015 and 33-29 (23-17 MAC) in five seasons under Lembo. Ball State has not won a bowl game once in its history.

Hopefully, a familiar face can turn the program around and turn the Cardinals into a force to be reckoned with in the MAC.
