Colorado State makes Marty English defensive coordinator again

Seeking a new defensive coordinator, Colorado State and head coach Mike Bobo turned to a familiar face. Marty English is being elevated from linebackers coach to the defensive coordinator role once again, the program announced.

Next year will be English’s fifth season at CSU and 30th overall. For his first three seasons with the Rams, English was linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator with Al Simmons, now he will be the sole coordinator.

“We had lots of very qualified people interested in this job, but we had a very qualified person on this staff who has been a coordinator in this league,” Bobo said in a release, “And I want to reward people who have been loyal to me. Marty has done an outstanding job in my time here, and takes great pride in being a Colorado State Ram.”

English has also been a coordinator at Northern Colorado and Wyoming in the past. Bobo did not specify if he would continue coaching linebackers.

With English moving into the defensive coordinator role, the Rams still have one spot open on their coaching staff.
