Houston Texans star defensive end J.J. Watt said during his postgame press conference yesterday that he has been dealing with a groin issue for the past several weeks and will undergo surgery to correct it on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Watt’s Texans got absolutely outplayed in their AFC Wild Card matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, ultimately getting blown out 30-0. Watt himself only managed one tackle in the game despite being a clear-cut favorite for Defensive Player of the Year in 2015, having posted 76 tackles and three forced fumbles along with an NFL-best 17.5 sacks. The good news, on top of the fact that he put up those kinds of numbers with a groin issue, is that he’s only 26 and should recover in plenty of time for next season.
