The rumors of Alabama coach Nick Saban leaving the SEC for the NFL are flying overhead once again, but one thinks Saban’s next stop will be somewhere else entirely. That someone is ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit, who said the following to Andrew Perloff of Sports Illustrated and “The Dan Patrick Show.”
"His next stop will be on the College Gameday set." — @KirkHerbstreit doesn't think Nick Saban will ever leave Alabama for another team
— Andrew Perloff (@andrewperloff) January 11, 2016
That’s certainly an interesting prospect, albeit a bizarre one since Saban doesn’t really show much emotion on or off the field. Given how he’d likely be replacing Lee Corso, who isn’t getting any younger at 80 years old, it’d certainly be interesting to see how he fared in a TV role.
But there’s also the fact that Saban is an excellent football mind and would bring a great deal to the table as a television analyst and though he has not once hinted that he wants to leave coaching in the immediate future, him joining GameDay is certainly fun to think about becoming a reality.
