Notre Dame LB Jaylon Smith declares for 2016 NFL Draft

Notre Dame linebacker Jaylon Smith, currently recovering from torn knee ligaments suffered in his team’s Fiesta Bowl loss to Ohio State, announced in a video that he is entering the 2016 NFL Draft.

A former five-star recruit from Fort Wayne, Smith had 284 tackles, 4.5 sacks and three forced fumbles in his time with the Fighting Irish. Just where he’ll be drafted is a tough call, especially given how he probably won’t be able to perform most of the drills at next month’s NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, but there’s no doubt that he has a great head on his shoulders and can be a premier run-stopper on the professional level.
