Report: Jim Harbaugh pushing to have Michigan spring practice at IMG Academy

IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida is the most prestigious boarding school for high school athletes in the entire country. Top-tier athletes in all sports from around the country flock to the academy each year in order to get their name out to big colleges around the nation.

It looks like the school could be receiving a big name in the coming months, but it would only be for a short time. According to the Detroit Free Press, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is pushing to hold part of the Wolverines’ spring practice at the academy in Florida.

Harbaugh has done a terrific job with the Wolverines the last year as he led them to a 10-3 season, which saw them dismantle Florida in the Citrus Bowl. Having a few days of practice at IMG Academy would do wonders for both the Wolverines and the school itself.

The only issue the Wolverines may have with this is the scheduling. The NCAA states that teams can only practice 15 times over a span of 34 calendar days and taking spring break into account, it may be difficult for Harbaugh to get his club to Bradenton, not far from Tampa, from Ann Arbor.

If he is able to pull this off, I’d expect a few, or a ton, of the football players on campus to skip class to go watch Harbaugh possibly take his shirt off for some Bama Ball.
