There’s no doubting that Kentucky head coach John Calipari is one of the best in the history of college basketball. He has done wondrous things with the Wildcats since taking over, so it’s no surprise that he is one of the most sought-after coaches in the country.
Calipari spent some time in the NBA before bouncing back to the collegiate ranks and it looks like that team wants to bring him back. According to multiple reports, the Brooklyn Nets are pursuing Calipari to be their new head coach and president.

Calipari spent two seasons with the Nets, who were then playing in New Jersey, before being fired 20 games into his third season. He racked up a 72-112 record with the team, leading them to a playoff berth in 1998.
There have also been reports that if the Nets want to land Calipari, it is unsurprisingly going to cost a pretty penny. SI.com reported that Calipari is seeking a $120 million contract to coach the Nets and the Sacramento Kings, who have also made their intentions to land the coach known.
The Wildcats are in the midst of a 12-3 season and they certainly don’t need any big distractions. Hopefully, this doesn’t turn into a big one in the end for the Wildcats.
