John Beilein ‘not optimistic’ Caris LeVert will return vs. Maryland

On Tuesday night, the Michigan Wolverines face the No. 3-ranked Maryland Terrapins in a key Big Ten matchup. Unfortunately for Wolverines head coach John Beilein, it seems unlikely that star guard Caris LeVert will be returning to the court.

LeVert is currently dealing with a lower left leg injury which has Beilein “not optimistic” about his return.

“We elected not to have him practice yesterday and let the healing complete itself,” Beilein said, via NBC Sports. “I’m not optimistic about tomorrow. The longer it goes, the more he’s going to need 2-3 days to practice or he won’t be ready and could risk further injury.”

Michigan would prefer LeVert to return to the court sooner rather than later, but his history of leg injuries has the team moving forward with caution.

On the season, LeVert is averaging 17.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.2 assists. His return to the court — whenever that comes — will be a big boost for the Wolverines.
