Florida will not retain DBs coach Kirk Callahan

The Florida Gators will not retain defensive backs coach Kirk Callahan, according to GatorCountry. Head coach Jim McElwain announced the decision in an official statement.

“We are making a change on our staff,” McElwain said. “Moving forward, Kirk Callahan will be looking at some other opportunities and he has a long career ahead of him.”

Callahan, 30, was only with the Gators for a year and had been in the same position at Central Florida, his alma mater, for the previous three years. He also served at Florida as a graduate assistant from 2010-2011.

The Gators ranked 20th in pass defense this year, so Callahan being let go is a bit odd, but stay tuned to Campus Sports for any further updates!
