Earlier this week, big news hit the football world, when the NFL announced the St. Louis Rams would be moving from Missouri back to their last home, Los Angeles. And while that might be great news for lingering fans in Southern California, it isn’t for the citizens of Missouri.
Not only are fans losing their football team, but taxpayers owe millions on what was the Rams stadium in St. Louis.
It was a project funded by the public in the early 90’s, a project meant to help sway a team to move to the Midwest. While it worked– the Rams home since 1994–it ultimately has failed–$100 million still owed–as citizens and fans are called upon to continue paying for an investment with no return.
