Todd Gurley named PFWA Rookie of the Year

Los Angeles Rams — it’s still weird typing that — running back Todd Gurley has been voted as the Rookie of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America.

The officially announcement came on Tuesday afternoon.

The former Georgia Bulldogs running back entered the 2015 season with questions surrounding his health after suffering a knee injury during his final college season. But despite concerns, Gurley led the Rams offense last season, finishing with 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns. He led all NFL rookies in both categories.

With Gurley firmly established as the team’s starter, the Rams appear to be moving in the right direction on offense heading into their first season back in Los Angeles. Now, just getting a solid quarterback under center to take pressure off Gurley would likely go a long way towards seeing those numbers increase in his second professional season.
