Quarterback Shea Patterson is one of the top athletes in the country for the 2016 season and he has certainly been one of the most sought-after players in this recruiting class. He has been committed to Ole Miss for nearly a year now and on Monday, he made his decision official.
Hugh Freeze’s club announced via Twitter that Patterson had signed with the Rebels just more than a week away from National Signing Day.
Rivals.com has Patterson listed as the No. 3 overall prospect only behind defensive tackles Rashan Gary and Dexter Lawrence. The quarterback is the top player at his position in many rankings and was named the MVP at the Elite 11 event in 2015.
With Chad Kelly still under center for the Rebels in 2016, I wouldn’t expect to see Patterson get much playing time. However, they certainly have a trump card for any team they play if they need to throw Patterson into the mix.
