Eastern Washington cornerback LaShawn Jameison was arrested by Spokane police in connection with a fatal drive-by shooting that left 21-year-old Eduardo Villagomez dead, according to a report from local CBS affiliate KREM. The shooting took place outside of the Palomino Club in North Spokane.
Jameison has been dismissed from the football team as a result of the arrest, but no word has been given on his status as a student. He transferred to Eastern Washington from Southern Oregon, where he redshirted in 2012 and played in 2013. His court hearing was delayed until today so that he and his attorney could review the charges.
Also a suspect in the shooting is 26-year-old Kwame Bates, who told police that the fight started after a girl got pushed and escalated from there. Whitney Ward of KREM spoke to some of Jameison’s friends, who offered their take.
Just talked to a few friends of Palomino Club shooting suspect Lashawn Jameison. They say he was "just in the wrong place at the wrong time"
