2016 NFL Draft under-the-radar player spotlight: Ian Seau

When you hear the name “Seau,” you immediately think of one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history, correct? Yes, Junior Seau will always be remembered as one of the greatest players to ever strap on a helmet in the NFL, but his legacy may be able to live on through one talented family member.

Nevada linebacker Ian Seau was one of the more talented defensive players in the Mountain West this season. He had a good year taking the Wolf Pack to a 7-6 record and a win in the Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl.

He has changed his position for the NFL from defensive end to outside linebacker, but that may be a good thing for him as the 2016 NFL Draft class is loaded with talented players at the defensive end position.

During the 2015 season, Seau’s 18.5 tackles for loss and ten sacks were good enough for first and second in the Mountain West respectively. He also showed off his versatility by knocking down five passes and forcing five fumbles, good enough for second in the country.

Right now, Junior’s nephew is projected to be just a fourth or fifth round pick, but that doesn’t mean he won’t make an impact in the NFL. The Chargers are looking for some linebacker help on the outside, so how appropriate would it be for them to select a talented player like Seau?
