Mississippi State Bulldogs quarterback Dak Prescott had one of the most impressive days of any quarterback in Mobile for the Senior Bowl on Tuesday afternoon. Prescott was working under center and attempting to improve his footwork, while showing off a strong arm and high energy throughout practice.
For Prescott, it was the perfect way to start off the week.
Following Tuesday’s session, Prescott met with the media and commented on what he will continue to work on as the week goes on.
“I’ve just got to continue working on my dropbacks. I have to make sure I get used to not being away from center,” Prescott said. “It felt good. I didn’t feel awkward or weird. I felt comfortable out there. It’s no different, really. It’s all football. It’s all studying the playbook and just making sure you know what you’re doing.”
To go along with working on a newer technique, Prescott has to work with new teammates.
The lack of chemistry can make it difficult for all players to put their best skills on display, but Prescott is confident in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ coaching staff and their ability to get the South team ready for Saturday’s game.
“You’ve got to get a relationship with them quick. You’ve got to understand what they’re going to do, how they’re going to run routes and everything you have to do in this short period of time to get ready for a game come Saturday,” Prescott noted.
“We’re going to do that. We’re working with a great staff that is preparing us.”
With a strong start to the week, Prescott has a great opportunity to work wonders for his draft stock. There is already plenty of buzz after an impressive Tuesday, so it will be important for Prescott to continue practicing at a high level after he set the bar for his own performance.
After all, the end goal for Prescott is just to one day step onto the NFL field.
“It’s a dream of mine since I was a kid. I eat, breathe, sleep football, so the opportunity to one day play in the NFL and start for a team will be exciting when the moment comes,” he said.
If Tuesday was any indication, Prescott is well on his way to making that dream come true.
