The Worldwide Leader in Sports is set to make some changes to its most popular program. On Monday, ESPN sent out a press release detailing changes to its flagship show, SportsCenter.
Beginning Feb. 8, ESPN will be debuting “SportsCenter:AM” from 7 to 10 a.m.
The new effort will bring some fresh graphics and a new feel to the network in the early hours of the morning.
The show will feature different themes each hour, with Jay Harris, Kevin Negandhi and Jaymee Sire serving as the hosts. “SportsCenter: AM” will also have a social media correspondent, Sarina Morales, who will share some of the latest buzz.
“The program will contain three distinct hours, with the first hourfocusing on taking a fresh look at highlights from the previous night in sports. The second hour will showcase top plays and moments from the previous night and the third hour will begin the transition to the upcoming day in sports while still featuring highlights,” the press release read.
“SportsCenter:AM will have a unique look and feel with its own graphics, lighting and colors.”
Will the re-branding effort to the early morning SportsCenter allow ESPN to be more competitive in the early markets? Only time will tell, but you have to start somewhere.
