The boxing world was hit with some very welcomed, but unexpected news on Tuesday morning.
Amir Khan took to social media to announce he will be facing fellow boxing star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez for the 155-pound WBC title on May 7 in Las Vegas.
Delighted to announce i will be fighting @Canelo May 7th Cinco De Mayo, Las Vegas for the 155lbs @WBCBoxing title! 👊🏽 🇬🇧 🇲🇽 💥

With Floyd Mayweather now out of the boxing picture, it’s great to see some of the top stars in the game stepping up and not being afraid to fight each other.
Rather than going back-and-forth with senseless media shots and coming up with stipulations that would obviously not be agreed to, Caneloa and Khan have found a way to reach an agreement without all of the distractions.
Now, they can focus on putting their best effort forward when they step into the ring on Cinco de Mayo weekend.
