Messi to meet with young fan who created plastic bag jersey

Earlier this year, a young Afghan boy became an internet sensation after a photograph of him wearing a homemade Lionel Messi jersey which was crafted out of a plastic bag surfaced online.

Since the photo surfaced, the Afghanistan Football Federation has identified the boy as five-year-old Murtaza Ahmadi.

Not only has Ahmadi been identified, but the Afghanistan Football Federation is now working to set up a meeting between the youngster and his idol after inviting him to play with the youth team.

If Messi cannot come to meet the boy in Afghanistan, they will arrange for him to fly to Barcelona.

In the meantime, Ahmadi is tearing it up on the pitch with his youth team and his brand new Lionel Messi/Barcelona kit. Some heart-warming images of Ahmadi in his new gear emerged.

That has to bring a smile to your face.

It’s always great when the sports world can come together and make a young kid’s dream come true. Let’s hope the meeting between Ahmadi and Messi can finally materialize.
