Michigan to take spring practices to Florida

In a move that screams Jim Harbaugh, Michigan’s football team will hold its first week of spring practices at Florida’s IMG Academy.

“Our plans for spring football are to go to Florida our first week while the university here is on spring break,” Harbaugh said, according to MLive. “We’ll go to Florida and have four practices down there. We’re going to work hard but we’ll have fun doing it.”

“I’ve already got some good plans. We’ll have swim meets, putt-putt golf. We’re going to have football meetings, practice. I think it gives a chance to win on a lot of different levels.”

The plan is for the Wolverines to have the first week of practices during spring break, a genius move on Harbaugh’s part to ensure that his players don’t get into trouble or out of control without supervision. Moreover, it establishes Michigan’s presence in the Sunshine State and creates recruiting opportunities for Harbaugh at IMG.

Throw in that Harbaugh is also getting his players out of the bitter cold of the Midwest for a week, and this move is all the better.
