Michigan’s signing day event raises $110,000 for ChadTough Foundation

A few months ago, the Michigan Wolverines were devastated by the passing of Chad Carr, former head football coach Lloyd Carr’s grandson. He had been battling cancer and, sadly, lost the fight at just five years old.

The program has since began the ChadTough Foundation, which funds research and raises awareness for pediatric brain tumors. On Wednesday at Michigan’s “Signing of the Stars” National Signing Day event, the Wolverines raised over $110,000 for the foundation.

“Love for the University … but most importantly love for Chad Carr, ChadTough, his family, what Lloyd Carr has meant to this town, this state, this country,” head coach Jim Harbaugh said in an interview with Big Ten Network. “Tammi and Jason, Chad, his brothers. We’ve all witnessed it.

“When you see love, you see love for a young five-year-old boy, when you see him love back, and everybody involved, it brings you nearer to God. I think that was the cornerstone of this event. Let that pour out and let others see it, too.”

It was a sad thing for the Carr family to go through, but at least they have the peace of mind knowing that they are able to help others into the future.
