Today is ‘Frank Beamer Day’ in Virginia

Terry McAuliffe, the Governor of Virginia, has declared today to be “Frank Beamer Day” in the Old Dominion State as Beamer and the Hokies paid a visit to the Capitol in Richmond.

Beamer is certainly more than deserving of the award, having guided Virginia Tech to a 238-121-2 record in 29 years in Blacksburg. He never won a national championship, but there is no denying that the man defined Virginia Tech football for a majority of his tenure. He announced his retirement at the end of the season and will be succeeded by former Memphis coach Justin Fuente.

That said, this was an excellent way to give Beamer his final sendoff from campus.
