It’s been known for a while that the Tennessee Titans will have the number one pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. It has been pretty clear that the team would take a player to give Marcus Mariota protection up front.
Thursday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that he is hearing that the Titans will select Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil. This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise as he has been projected as the top pick for some time.
“If Tennessee remains at No. 1, NFL personnel executives said this week that there was a real chance the Titans would take Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil. That would give them bookend tackles with Taylor Lewan to protect Marcus Mariota and to run the ball for years to come.”
The Titans could still go another direction come April, but Schefter is usually pretty spot-on with his reports.
