The Cal Golden Bears had one of the strongest offensive attacks during the 2015 season with quarterback Jared Goff and wide receiver Kenny Lawler. Unfortunately, they lost both of those players to the NFL, but they are looking to reload for the 2016 season.
They did just that by hiring a new offensive coordinator. According to SI.com, the Golden Bears are expected to hire Jake Spavital as their new guy to run their offense.
Spavital and Texas A&M mutually agreed to part ways in January. He will be replacing Tony Franklin, who resigned last month to take the same position at Middle Tennessee State.
This will be Spavital’s second gig as an offensive coordinator. He also spent time at Houston and Oklahoma State as a graduate assistant and then at West Virginia as quarterbacks coach.
