N.C. State forces Division III school to change its nickname

Many of you have probably never heard of Division III Keuka College, a small school with an enrollment of 931 that resides in the Finger Lakes town of Keuka Park, about 57 miles southeast of Rochester.

Well, Keuka is in the headlines for an asinine and absolutely hysterical reason because, according to a snarky press release from the school, N.C. State has asked Keuka College to change its athletics teams’ name from the Wolfpack to the Wolves because of the trademark and possible “confusion.”

The press release covers everything perfectly.

I can only imagine how the conversation went down. N.C. State probably puffed its chest out and went on and on and on to Keuka about how the name had to be changed or the battle would be taken to court, and little tiny Keuka just heard it all and shrugged before going “OK.”

Pick your battles, N.C. State. Pick your battles.
