There’s no question that Jared Goff and Carson Wentz are the two top quarterbacks in the 2016 NFL Draft. It would not be a surprise to see both players drafted in the top five when teams head over the Chicago in April.
It seems right now that one NFL Draft expert is pretty high on both Goff and Wentz. Mike Mayock joined The College Draft Podcast recently and talked about both quarterbacks and how they each have the chance to be the first quarterback taken.
“Jared Goff makes every throw. Everybody criticizes the system he’s in, but if you really watch enough of his tape, you can find him scanning the field, doing full-field reads, climbing the pocket, making the correct reads and checkdown throws,” Mayock said. “I really like Jared Goff.”
He then went on to say that Wentz looked like a franchise quarterback from the first time he ever saw him play.
“I had some questions about his deep-ball accuracy. In one of the games, he underthrew or overthrew four or five deep balls, but outside of that, I’m going ‘This is a franchise quarterback, and if he was in a Power Five conference, he’s a top-10 pick,'” Mayock said. “And I didn’t know a thing about the kid (previously), I just couldn’t wait to see him at the Senior Bowl.”
Both of these two quarterbacks are very talented and should land in starting jobs from the time they are drafted.
