On Monday, the professional wrestling world was shocked when Daniel Bryan announced that he would have to retire due to medical reasons. He told fans on Twitter that he would be on Raw to elaborate on his decision in front of his friends and family in his home state of Washington.
He came out to the ring with a new look of shorter hair and a trimmed beard, which tipped many fans off that this was not a “work” and it was very much a reality. He joked about his new look saying he would “look silly with short hair and a crazy long beard.”
With tears in the eyes of just about every fan in attendance, he talked about how his dad was in Seattle two years prior and experienced the fans “hijacking” Raw. He mentioned that was the last time his dad saw him wrestle as he passed away just a week later.
You can watch the emotional speech below. I dare you to try and do so without tearing up at least once.
The feels. They are very much real.
His friends began taking to Twitter with the quickly-trending #ThankYouDanielBryan. It made for one emotional night for the superstar who has traveled the world competing.
