Rugby player cuts hand after cutting bagel

File this one under weird stories of the day. A British rugby star has been sidelined after cutting his hand while attempting to cut a frozen bagel.

Leicester Tigers captain Ed Slater, who was supposed to return to the lineup after missing the last month with a knee injury, will be out a bit longer after getting 14 stitches to heal the wound. The team’s director, Richard Cockerill, told the BBC that there is a lesson to be learned here.

“The moral of the story is don’t get a really sharp knife and try to cut a frozen bagel,” he said. “The knife slips, slashes your hand and you have 14 stitches and can’t play.”

If you, for some reason, want to see the injury, Slater posted a photo on Twitter. Of course, you have to be following him in order to see it due to his account being protected.

This is just another reminder to go to Tim Horton’s, Dunkin Donuts or another shop to get your bagels rather than making them at home.
