Lil Wayne mocks Cam Newton criticism

Since blowing off the media after Super Bowl 50, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has come under a lot of scrutiny for his class or, supposedly, a lack thereof.

Whether you are on Newton’s side or against him, everyone seems to have an opinion on the matter. One such person is rapper Lil Wayne, who made an appearance on SportsCenter on Tuesday to talk about a number of things, including the Newton criticism.

“It’s interesting. My opinion on it is it’s wack,” Wayne said on the show via Complex . “We are supposed to enjoy these people for what they do and what he does is amazing and no one else can do it and it hasn’t been done ever. We’re not supposed to care about nothing—[he’s a] warrior—nothing else. This is entertainment, this is sports and let a person be a person, other than that. I don’t get it.”

Newton left the podium after hearing Denver cornerback Chris Harris talking about how the team shut Newton down. It made Newton genuinely upset, leading to him ending his conference early. People then decided to make a big deal about it like it was the worst thing to happen in sports, even though most would’ve likely done the same thing in the same situation.

As Wayne said shortly after the Super Bowl, you do you, Cam.
