Assassin’s Creed may be done with yearly releases

There won’t be a new Assassin’s Creed release from Ubisoft in 2016, and it may be a start of something permanent for the franchise.

During its Invester Day, Ubisoft made it clear that though the game will be coming back with regular releases, that doesn’t mean fans will see a new Assassin’s Creed title every year.

“We saw it was time to give it lots of time so [developers] could really work on the property and all the mechanics to make sure we could take [the series] to another level,” he said via VG 247. “What we are seeing today is promising. We will be able to come on a regular basis [but] we can’t say every year.”

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has seen its reputation fall over the past few years with games that released buggy or downright broken, leading to mixed and negative reviews. By taking a step back with the series, Ubisoft could finally be able to breath new life into a game that desperately needs it.

Hopefully it pays off in the end whenever fans get their hands on the next title.
