Georgia State has announced it will have a home-and-home series with the North Carolina Tar Heels in 2021 and 2022, marking the first time that the Panthers host a school from the ACC.
Per the announcement, which came on the official website of Panthers athletics, Georgia State will visit Chapel Hill on September 11, 2021 and the Tar Heels will come to Atlanta the following year, on September 10. As a result, the Panthers’ 2021 schedule is finally complete.
This announcement comes on the heels of another big announcement from Georgia State, as a home-and-home with Vanderbilt is set for 2024 and 2025 and will mark the first time the Panthers host an SEC school.
Needless to say, the Panthers’ future is looking bright. Georgia State closed out the season on a four-game winning streak to finish 6-7 (5-3 Sun Belt) in 2015, its third under coach Trent Miles, and lost to San Jose State in the Cure Bowl. Those six wins tied a team best first set back in 2010, the first season of Panthers football.
That all being said, with games against Air Force and Wisconsin set for the 2016 season and a home-and-home with Memphis set to begin in 2017, plus a game against Alabama in 2020, Georgia State is certainly taking steps forward in terms of becoming a respectable program.
