The college football season is still a long way away. It is sure to be a fun season with Alabama looking for their 17th national title and teams like Clemson, LSU, and Michigan chomping at the bit to get a piece of them.
Just because the football season doesn’t start until September doesn’t mean we can’t go ahead and look at the top teams in the country. ESPN’s Phil Steele did just that when he predicted the preseason AP Top 10.
He showed that he was nearly perfect in his early projections last year, picking Ohio State, TCU, and Alabama to be the top three of the 2015 polls and picking the exact ten teams for the polls, just not in the correct order.
Steele revealed his top ten teams to start the 2016 season.
4. Florida State
6. Ohio State
Having the defending national champions on top isn’t a huge surprise here with the team that nearly beat them for the title just behind them. The Seminoles return 11 starters on offense and have the second-ranked recruiting class for 2016 so this could be an accurate spot for them.
Many will likely criticize Steele for having Tennessee in the top ten, but the fact is that the Volunteers are getting much better with each passing year. They seem poised to make a big move in the SEC in 2016.
