No. 14 Kentucky suffered a heartbreaking, buzzer-beating loss to unranked Texas A&M last night, and a technical foul freshman center Isaac Humphries received for slamming the ball late in overtime was one of the reasons.
That technical foul led to free throws for the Aggies and though Kentucky tied the game again before Tyler Davis’ game-winning layup, it was a stupid mental mistake that could have been avoided.
Thankfully, Humphries took to Twitter and clearly showed remorse for his actions, stating the words that every coach wants to hear any player say following a key mistake.
I will learn from this #BBN

Humphries is clearly wise beyond his years, given that tweet. He could have bashed the refs, the officiating and other factors for why Kentucky lost, but he knew that was pointless. Rather, he was the bigger person and said “This one’s on me. I need to be better. I will learn from my mistakes.”
The good news is that Kentucky is still in first place in the SEC and should have an easy week coming up with Alabama and Vanderbilt on the docket, so Humphries will have plenty of opportunity for redemption.
