Syracuse redshirt senior wide receiver Ben Lewis is no longer on the team after deciding to leave it, according to a report from Stephen Bailey of The Syracuse Post-Standard.
Per Bailey’s report, redshirt junior offensive lineman Alex Hayes was also dismissed from the team by new coach Dino Babers for an unspecified violation of team rules.
Originally from Maryland, Lewis was fourth on the Orange last year with 18 catches for 208 yards and a touchdown. He would be a graduate transfer and immediately eligible to play should he decide to transfer to another school. He leaves Syracuse with 43 catches for 490 yards and two touchdowns, an his leaving could be considered an odd choice considering the offensive genius of Babers, who was hired away from Bowling Green in December.
