Class of 2017 four-star linebacker Tyler Dunning has de-committed from Miami, according to Scout.com.
Dunning, who currently stars at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, had been committed to the Hurricanes for almost exactly a year, so this decision comes as something of a surprise, particularly since he grew up cheering for the program that has come to be known as “The U.”
On top of Miami, Dunning has a top five that includes LSU, Syracuse, Tennessee, Kentucky and Pittsburgh. He also has offers from Cincinnati and Florida International to consider.
In terms of why Dunning de-committed, he hasn’t commented on the situation. One theory is that he was recruited by former coach Al Golden, who was fired in the middle of last season after years of underachieving, and now wants to keep his options open now that the more offense-oriented Mark Richt is coaching at Miami.
Either way, Dunning’s decision is his own and he will discuss it as he feels is necessary. Stay tuned to Campus Sports for further updates on this story!
