Legendary mustache-sporting coach Don Mattingly bans facial hair on Marlins

A lot of coaches like to have consistency on their team. They don’t want some players wearing high socks and others wearing no-shows or some wearing ties to away games with others wearing polos.

Miami Marlins manager Don Mattingly wants his team to be consistent and he is doing so in a strange way. He is banning all facial hair from his players on the squad.

“Guys will whine. Some guys like it, some guys won’t. As long as we’re consistent, I think it’s not that big of a deal,” Mattingly told Yahoo Sports.

What’s strange is that Mattingly is pretty famous for having a mustache during his playing days. Just check out his baseball card.

Yeah, that is certainly strange. I don’t think too many will be happy with Mattingly’s decision, but if it helps the Marlins play better then they probably couldn’t be upset.

The Marlins haven’t made the playoffs since winning the World Series in 2003, so I am sure they will take any advice they can from their new manager.
